MIRAI CODE · Your First Gift

Your Name Has Meaning

It was your very first gift — a wish, chosen for you, that stays beside you all your life.

Mirai — a Future Decoder who reads the sounds of your name

Do you like your own name?

Called by it every day, writing it every day — and yet, in truth, you may rarely have stopped to think about what it means.

To close this series, let me write the one thing I most want to tell you.

Your name is your "first gift"

Your name is the very first gift given to you — chosen, when you were born, by someone who wove into it a great many wishes.

"May you grow up to be like this." That prayer is quietly woven through the letters of your name.

Every single sound carries meaning

And since ancient times, it has been held that meaning dwells in the sounds of words — there is, after all, that word: kotodama, the spirit that lives inside language.

Your name, too, is the sound called to you the most, and the one you've cast upon yourself the most, from the day you were born. And so the sounds of your name resonate, quietly, with your very essence. — What each of those sounds is saying is the most precious part of what I share, slowly, with you and you alone, in a reading.

The truth is — the one most saved by these sounds of a name may well be me.

In the time when I had lost everything, when the way ahead was utterly dark, I turned — as if clinging to it — to face my own name. Not "Mirai," but the true name my parents gave me first of all: Ke — i — ko.

Those three sounds were saying this:
Ke — the power to light others, through food and through words.
I — the power to sense what another is feeling.
Ko — the power to see a thing through to the very end, once you have decided.

— Oh. This is all… me. That I'd gone into the world of food, from my child's allergies. That I could never leave a person in trouble alone. That I had kept on with the things I began. My whole life was held, faithfully, in these three small sounds.

"This is the kind of person you are." My name seemed to tell me so. — It's alright. I am, truly, myself. And in that moment, little by little, the strength to live came back to me.

A name is the first thing our parents ever gave us. And its sound stays beside us, whatever may come. — That, my name taught me, in my own body.

What lay at the core of this whole series

Across all of it — the state of the heart, the power of words, the shape of our relationships — I've shared so many things. And at the root of every one of them was, always, a single truth.

Your heart's state creates your future. And at the very core of that heart is the sound of your name.

What I am really doing, in every reading

Reading the sounds of your name, I put into words meant only for you the strength you already carry, and a hint of the way ahead.

It isn't fortune-telling — hits and misses. It is time we spend spreading open, together, a gentle map for finding your way home to yourself. "No one has ever described me like this before." More than a few people say it with tears in their eyes.

In the end

Whenever you lose your way — come back, anytime, to the sound of your name.

It is the wish given to you at birth, and the closest ally you have — beside you, for a lifetime.
