MIRAI CODE · The Heart Has Weather

To You Who's Sunk in Low Spirits and Can't Climb Out

The heart has weather too — and every downpour, without exception, clears.

Mirai — a Future Decoder who reads the sounds of your name

Somehow, the mood just won't lift. And a fear creeps in — that this darkness will go on, and on. Are you passing days like that?

In my readings, I meet so many people who, in the very thick of a low, feel: "maybe it will be like this the rest of my life."

— The truth is, I have had my downpour, too.

There was a time my heart was caught in a downpour. As the result of choosing my own "I want to," I lost — all at once — the life I'd had until then, and my place in the world. The way ahead went completely dark. Some days, too afraid of the morning, I couldn't get out from under the covers. "This darkness will never lift — not for the rest of my life." I believed it, truly.

But — one day, to me, sitting there crushed, my mother said, breezily:

"Isn't it a good thing you found out what his parents were like before you married him?" "Think of it as a lesson in life you could never have bought at any price."

At that one remark, my stiffened heart, all at once, came loose. (I see. This isn't "the end"… perhaps it was "tuition.")

The rain I had been so certain would last forever — it did, in the end, stop. The heart has its weather. And its downpour days, always, without fail, clear. Now, at last, I can believe it.

The heart, too, has its weather

Just as the sky has its clear days and its rainy days, so, too, does the heart.

There are sunny days, and cloudy days, and days of rain. And — every rain, without exception, comes to an end.

When you are low, it feels as if "this rain will go on forever" — but that is only the weather at work. Not because you are weak. Not because there is a single thing wrong with you.

On rainy days, just raise an umbrella and let it pass

On a rainy day, you don't have to force the sky to clear.

On a rainy day, raise an umbrella, keep yourself warm, and simply wait for it to stop. A warm drink. A soft blanket. An early night under the covers. Tend to yourself, gently, and let the time go by.

The sounds of your name are within you, whatever the weather

The sounds of your name are within you, unchanged, on a heart's day of any weather at all.

Just as, beyond the rain clouds, there is always the sky — even on your lowest day, your own true light is right there. It is only hidden, for now, a little behind cloud.

What I am really doing, in every reading

So to those in the midst of a rainy day, I speak as if to light a small lamp: "Right now, your heart is simply having a rainy day. It will clear — it always does."

(And — if the rain goes on so long that it becomes too much to bear, please don't carry it alone. Do lean on a professional support line, or on someone you trust.)

In the end

Even if your heart is raining now — you are alright. The weather always changes.

You don't have to force the sun to come. Keep yourself warm, and wait, unhurried, for the rain to stop. Tomorrow's sky will surely be different from today's.
